BIOGRAPHY

"To paint a portrait, you must fall in love a little with the subject."

Beren deMotier first exhibited animal portraits and executed commissions on Vancouver Island, in 1976, when she was twelve. Later, after gaining an arts degree from the University of Washington, she painted and showed portraits of modern primitives in Seattle, and then resumed her portrait work of animals in 2003, in Portland, Oregon. Her artwork has been exhibited at Caffe Destino, Green Dog Pet Supply, Urban Fauna, juried exhibition "The Art Show at the Dog Show" and at Inavale Farms Horse Trials, June 2008. She has donated portraits to the DoveLewis Wet Nose Soiree, da Vinci Arts MiddleSchool, Fernwood Middleschool, Multnomah Playschool, Artists for Alameda and the Children's Cancer Association Heroes Gala.

Beren shares her Portland home with her spouse, their three children, a guinea pig, a rabbit, one fish, and a Labrador the size of a small horse.

The American Kennel Club Museum of the Dog invited Beren deMotier to join their Artist Registry of Dog Portrait Painters, and has examples of her work on file.
